Bokashi One

One Bucket or Two?

You may prefer to set up your system using two buckets. One of the benefits of having two buckets is the convenience. With only one bucket, when it is full the waste needs to be buried immediately to have an empty bucket to begin to fill again. If you have two buckets when the first bucket is full, put it aside to bury at a convenient time, continue to drain the juice every few days. Begin the process of collecting waste in the second bucket. Bury the waste from the first bucket before the second bucket is full, so you can rotate the buckets. As well as being convenient this process also gives the waste more time to ferment (especially good for homes that produce a lot of waste). Fermentation accelerates the breakdown of the waste, do not leave fermented waste in a Bokashi One Bucket for more than a few weeks.
