Plants can only obtain their nutrients from the soil in which they live in. Therefore the soil that the plant has fixed itself to becomes a source of its food and crucial to its performance and survival.
A basic, good soil is one that is rich in both organic matter and has a balanced and abundance of soil life, including fungi, worms, bacteria, nematodes, micro-anthropods, protozoa and others.
